HR Thoughts…Week Ending 3.15.2024

We’re at the end of another week, so it’s time for some HR Thoughts.

  1. EQ (emotional intelligence) must be prioritized in the workplace.

I recently attended a fabulous webinar put on by Hacking HR. The presenters hit on so many key topics and really drove home strong points about creating emotionally intelligent workplaces, and that begins with leadership. Emotional intelligence is defined as, “the ability to understand and manage your emotions, as well as recognize and influence the emotions of those around you” You get rusty if you don’t put effort into developing and growing this set of skills.

  2. Recognition matters

Guess who does amazing work for your organization day in and day out? That’s right. Your team. So what’s so hard about recognizing them? A shout-out on Slack. A mention in a meeting. A small token of appreciation like a hand-written card. These are all ways you can recognize the efforts and work of your team. Work builds up and, this seems secondary, but it’s so important and means a lot to your team and their continued desire to be a part of it.

  3. AI will leave you behind if you don’t take it seriously.

I don’t really have to say much about this, but there’s an AI tool out there for just about anything. Dig in, and start learning. If you want to continue to be an attractive place to work, make it a priority.
